University Park Neighborhood – 4th of July Street Party !!🇺🇸

Hey neighbors and friends, our traditional neighborhood 4th of July block party is on again for this year.

  • July 4th, Friday: 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm (Times to be determined)
  • Our traditional parade will start around 3:30 – bring your walking shoes, instruments, or other noise music makers
  • Location: Leland Ave — between Palo Alto Way & Vine St.
  • Road Closure — Leland Ave will be closed to thru traffic during the party

Please let your neighbors know of our neighborhood 4th of July Party and encourage them to come.  See you there!

There will be lots of activities: Decorating bikes-trikes-scooters-wagons, costumes, toddler bounce house, water balloons, bubbles, relay races, and lots more. We hope to have the fire truck come, and of course lots of potluck items, food, beverages, BBQs for cooking, snacks, and all those good ole 4th of July favorites.

About our Neighborhood’s 4th of July Tradition

Our neighborhood’s 4th of July celebration goes back decades. Marching bands would start on Perry and, like the Pied Piper, would grow in numbers and get louder as it wound its way through our neighborhood streets. We had BBQs, potlucks, and lots of fun activities for the kids and some very fine eats for the adults. The celebration took a pause before Covid. Fortunately for all of us this year, Rick & Kevyn Andrews decided to test the waters to see if people wanted to re-start the party — Great response and so the party is back on!
