Our Traditional Neighborhood Halloween Events

Our Neighborhood's Pumpkin Carving & Parade Event

For those new neighbors, bring your pumpkins down to Palo Alto Way & Stanford for a huge Pumpkin carving event — tables and strawbales are setup and everyone carves their pumpkins in the morning and early afternoon. Finished pumpkins are set in a long row on the curb for viewing — last few years we have had 90+ pumpkins carved each year! At 2pm all the pumpkins are given awards - every pumpkin receives a unique UnivPark Award!   Please take your pumpkins home after the parade.

Kids and parents can hone their fort building skills with the straw bales during the weekend and on Sunday before the Parade. We have had some very interesting straw bale forts over the years.

All events — No age limit - Teens, seniors, kids, toddlers, parents, grandkids, aunts, uncles, friends, cousins... Its all fun!

Pumpkin Carving will be from early in the morning on Sunday through 2pm and we will judge and hand out awards before the Parade starts. You can and should pick up your pumpkins after the parade.

Apple Press needs apples to press!   Please bring apples.  If you know of strong kids, bring them to help crank it!  The press will be there late morning (10am) and only until 12pm.  Come enjoy some fresh apple juice!!

The Halloween Parade will start and end at Palo Alto Way and Stanford Ave. Parade gathering time is set at about 3:00 with the parade starting shortly after and will end with refreshments, treats, photo ops, and a great chance to socialize with your favorite ghouls and spooks.

Ways to Help

What a fantastic neighborhood and all due to neighbors willing to socialize, talk, and do fun stuff together.    From Easter and Halloween events to Friday Frolics and 4th of July gatherings, we have all created a great tradition for the neighborhood.

Many have asked how one can help, here are some ways:

  • volunteering to help is one way - just email UnivPark@UnivPark.org
    - or - If for Halloween, use the Halloween Volunteer/Help webpage
  • purchase a strawbale (great decoration for the holidays - good for garden afterwords)
  • make a donation:  Use the button below or the donate jar at neighborhood events, or send your donation to Cindy Tipton at 305 Stanford Ave.

Donate by credit card.  Its not tax deductable but it does help fund neighborhood. events and cover the costs of the many things we all do here.  Cindy Tipton has been managing the fund.   GeoRecover (RonSnow) is helping with the UnivPark donate button so you will see both names on the secure donate form.

Money collected at events are used to cover the cost of that event, future events, street closures, website hosting, signage, and supplies and goodies.
