Our West Menlo Park community newsletter has a focus on the Santa Cruz/Alameda Safety corridor but includes information that everyone in the general area may find of interest. This particular edition is the 1st newsletter for the Fall of 2017. Our community and San Mateo County and Menlo Park are included in a Santa Cruz/Alameda Task Force for which our many safety issues are the focus.

What is a Sharrow?

Sharrows are used to guide motorists and cyclists when there is no bike lanes on a roadway.  They are a reminder to drivers and bicyclists to share the traffic lane and to do that with respect and safety in mind.

This is an InMenlo article about our Communty's efforts to improve safety in our West Menlo nieghborhood.  “Gathering the issues together gives us a collective voice, we don’t want the county to do another safety analysis. Instead we’re driving for an engineering assessment. We realize there are a lot of considerations, for example, implications for the fire department and parking.”

The Almanac published an article about our community's effort to have San Mateo County address the scores of serious safety issues along Santa Cruz and Alameda de las Pulgas.  Over 100 neighbors and over 18 county and city staff met at Oak Knoll School to discuss this important issue.
